Cleaning Day, First of Many to Come

As of August 25, 2017, this house is mine.  There were brief cheers followed by thoughts of where do I begin.  First of all I want to thank Denise for being brave enough to help me clean this disaster of a house.  We spent pretty much all weekend working on it.  It has a long way to go, but the kitchen and bathroom just need to be functional and clean until I can remodel.  Here is some of the loveliness we discovered over the weekend.

The right side is after professional cleaners were to the house.  The left side is after I scrubbed for a long time.  Brown spots are nicks that I will be repairing next time.

Food splashes from 1923 through last week.

Denise works on a drawer that has a built in utensil holder.

There was a layer of white contact paper, then a layer of blue flowered contract paper, then this layer of linoleum.  She finally got down to the wood.

I decided to test the dish washer.  It started flooding the kitchen so I turned it off.  My real estate agent was so kind to give me a home warranty policy.  It will be repaired or replaced shortly after I move in.

The right side is after the cleaning crew cleaned it.  The left side is after Denise cleaned it.

We got a real surprise while cleaning the kitchen drawers.  Jesus used to live here.  I picked a fine time to become an agnostic.  Oh well...

I will be repairing some damaged wood and doing touch up paint, but this is the picture after we spent a full day getting just this side of the kitchen clean.

The front of this sink has a rusty patch that I will be repairing.  Then I will be caulking.

Before pictures are on my last post.  It is usable until the remodel happens.

These flowers are on my rose bush in the back yard.  It also needs some TLC, but not today.
